The Barbershop

One of the things I love about our little town is our trip to the barber. It is seriously like stepping into a time warp. Practically everything is the same as it was about 40-50 years ago. One thing I learned about the good 'ol barber pole--if it is moving, it means the shop is open for business! Cool eh?

Some of the other cool things I like there are the original chairs, the cabinet full of old creams, razors, tonics...its all just neat!

It was time for our shaggy boys to get a cut. Brigham gets all excited, then he is nervous, then excited again. It was a good day today though and all went well (it is worth it to not cry so he can get the coveted "dum dum" at the end). Our barber is a quiet guy--not real talkitive or boistrous. However, today he struck up a conversation with Brigg which was kinda cute, a little awkward, but cute nonetheless.

So, if you ever want a stroll down memory lane, come get your hair cut at my place!!!!
ps--sorry about the crazy arrangement of pictures, I'm still trying to figure this thing out!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

The kids made Bill a sign to show their love!!! I made a cake and Brigg helped put on ALL those candles. As you can see from the picture below, the cake was practically in flames from the sheer number of candles on top!! Just kidding Dad!!

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you more than anything!! We celebrated with a dinner date together and came home and had dessert with the kids. Yummy!!

Foreign Object

Little girls are a wonderful. They love to dress up, put on make-up, smell pretty, all of those wonderful little-girl things. We have had a mystery with our Molly for about a month now. There was some kind of odor coming from her and we just couldn't put a finger on it.... Was it a sinus infection? Tonsils? Tooth absess? We put her on an antibiotic to try and clear whatever it was up, but to no avail. Last night, I couldn't take it anymore. I hated that we couldn't snuggle or read books or just talk to each other without me wanting to pass out!! So I had Bill look her over--down her throat, in her ears and up her nose....this is where it gets good.
Bill---"There is something blue up her nose! Molly did you stick something up your nose?"
Molly---"No....(long pause) Well, there was that blue sponge thingy. I tore a piece off and put it up there a long time ago. I tried to get it out, but it just kept going further up!"
MYSTERY SOLVED!!!
So this morning we made a trip to daddy's work. Bill numbed up her nose and then stuck a suction tube wayyy up her nose to suck out the foam. It wouldn't come out. So he took these long skinny plyer thingys (sorry, i'm not sure the correct name of the medical device, this is close enough) and pulled the foam out in one piece. Talk about nasty! It was a little bigger than a nickle, maybe even a quarter...who knows, too big to be up a little girl's nose. Yahooo! She already smells like my Molly!! Thank you dad!!
So last night when I went to tuck her in after the discovery, she said,
"Who knew a little piece of sponge could cause sooooo much trouble!!"
Truer works have never been spoken. Amen sister!
Oh--while Molly was a big girl at the clinic, I on the other hand, had to sit down. I got a little light headed and naucious from the whole ordeal...nice mom, nice.
